Hey Mark, you coyote killing fool. Kindler's bullets have an 8 caliber ogive. The Hammett's I've seen appear to be a 7, but I'm just guessing. Todds bullets definitely look more streamlined. Keep me posted on your bullet making decision....... Dan C

HiDan , I have been thinking about making my own bullets for a while now , but every time I would talk to someone about it , the cost of getting set up seemed to be pretty high ! It just seems like there is a big gap between bullet weights in 17 cal , it jumps from 30 to 37gr . that leaves lots of room for experminting . I talked to Richard Corbin on the phone and he said that he could set me up with everything fairly reasonable . Another thought is where to get the jackets from , someone said ther is rumor that J4 might be selling out or going though some changes . You can't make bullets without jackets . I used to order my bullets direct from Berger and if they did not have any they always said there waiting on jackets ! Maybe someone will read this and start making them hint! hint! David Hammett said he would make me a few 32gr BT to try out as soon as he gets the jackets! Donald Unmussig is going to make some 34gr as soon as he gets though making 20 cal bullets . Thanks! Mark

Mark,
This is off your subject but I was curious on what velocity you are getting with the .17BR. Thanks, Larry

Larry , with 29.5 of VVN550 and 30gr Hammett's 4100fps , and 28gr Calhoon's 4300fps . I have been shooting some 29gr Tod kindler bullets with the same charge of powder but have not had a chance to check the velocity . I need to check out some different powders , but the VVN550 seems to be working great , no pressure signs on the primers or the cases and the accuracy is good . I think I could push the velocity up but I dont think the bullets would stay together . I would like to try some long range test on some different bullets when I get more time! It has been a real pleasure to shoot so far , the muzzle blast is really quiet for the amount of powder and case size. Thanks! Mark
