Anybody got a set of sights for a Remington 581 rifle for sale? I'm looking for some. Thanks, Nailman...

Greetings, and Happy Holidays.
I'm convinced I need to rebarrel my Ruger 77/22VHZ in .19 Calhoon. It just sounds like something I can't live without! I'm hoping for some feedback from others who have tried this conversion.
Regards, George.

Well, if you're already convinced, my job is already halfway done! I replied to your post on the accuratereloading board.........here is another one to whet your whistle. This coyote fell to my 19 Calhoon Browning Micro. Dan C

Thanks for sharing the pic Dan, I would love to hear the story behind the pic as well - since it is the season for sharing. Nice looking little rifle also.

And share I shall. It's a short story. Decided to sneak out for a quickie one morning last year, maybe squeeze in one stand. Got lucky and quickly called in this beauty, and tagged it with my 19 at about 150 yards. Got home in time to take my boy to school. Great way to start the day......... Jim, that rifle looks like it has such a long barrel in the picture, but I swear it's only 23". The forend on the Browning Micro is *really* short, creating the illusion. Here is another pic........barrel looks even longer! Dan C

You are right. Looking at the picture of that long barrel - I ducked at first because it looked like it might poke me in the eye. Still looks like a neat little rifle, be a shame to paint something like that camo for a calling rifle.

They list them on their website, 19-29 gr, price is $16/100 ($17 for the 27 gr). What kind of BC's do these have? How do they perform on varmints, such as p-dogs, woodchucks, crows and coyote? Thanks

Really excellent bullets Nick. Don't be shocked when you get the bill, the web prices are not current. The only BC's I can remember off the top of my head are .234 for the 27 and .240 for the 29 gr. I currently shoot the 23 gr. in my 17 AH and Mach IV, and the 29 in my Javelina. Performance on prairie dogs is super, and the accuracy is as good as anything I've ever shot. Be aware that the bearing surface of these bullets is rather short due to the boat tail and the 8 caliber ogive. This means that you will likely not be able to reach the lands with the 25 gr. or lighter Kindler bullets. That does not mean they won't shoot well though! Just have to try. They really are top quality stuff. Dan C

Yes, we are currently shooting the 25's in two Mach IV's. Great bullet. Actually just received 1000 of them from the brown truck this afternoon. Todd told us that the BC was .230. We checked it ourselves with the two chrono set up one day, and we got .229 plus, so he nailed it pretty good. They are seated out pretty long in both of our Coopers, but they still shoot really, really, small groups. Devastating on groundhogs, little bitty hole going in, no hole on the off side, groundhogs look like they just go to sleep........ Great bullets, highly recommend them. Rich in VA
