I currently have 2 of these but only one has been shot. The 1 that hasn't been shot is owned by my brother-in-law but is residing in my safe currently. I will be getting him started on it and have the dies. Mine is a 10" and likes 4227 and 1680. I have used nothing but Starke 20 grain bullets in it so far and it loves them. Accuracy you ask, well lets just say that the 10" barrel shoots better than I can. A guy that I know shot a 7 shot string while fireforming cases for me that measured 3/4". As far as loads, start low and work up slowly. I can't recall my hornet loads off the top of my head, they may be posted in the article called "little stinger".

Hello all, I've only posted a few times, but have a question. I recently pruchased a .223 for predator/varmint hunting. I've heard some good things about the Hornaday VMax type rounds and figured, hey, I'll give'em a try. Well, they group really well (read REALLY well, the 40gr ones BTW) but I got to wondering if they'd anchor the coyotes properly. I guess I could go with the 52gr BTHP (I've loaded a batch of those as well) but why fix what ain't broke (accuracy wise)? Any opinions??? TIA MarinePMI P.S. Jim Saubier--If you're still interested in the single shot plans send me an e-mail with your snail mail addy. I'll send a photo copy of the pages (can't find a dang scanner to use!!!). Sorry I haven't replied sooner, work's been kinda hectic lately, eh?

I would think that the 40's would be great. And the most important thing is hitting them where you are intending to - which is good since it is your accuracte load. I sent you an e-mail with my address for the plans - I look forward to the reading.

Okey Dokey Jim, I'll drag the book into work and run some copies off. When you get them, maybe you could scan and post here? I figure there may be some enterprising individuals here who may be up to the task/novelty of building their own rifles from scratch. Thanks again for the input! MarinePMI
