Don't have anything to say, just didn't want the board to go another day without a post. Last one was 2 days ago. Modified by BIG GUN at Sun, Dec 30, 2001, 11:36:25 |

I think everyone is at the range!!! The sun is shining with a very light breeze and it's about 65 degrees here in Mesa, Arizona. Had a great day shooting at Rio Salado range. I had to rub it in for the boys up north. Take care and stay warm. |

In the basement rebuilding my new 581. You going to get a .17HMR? Someone says www.gzanders.com has listed 4 versions of the .17 HMR by Anschutz. This sure sounds intresting!!! Happy New Year everyone. |

I'd like to convert my 581 to 17HMR but it would have to be single shot. I've looked mine over from one end to the other an I don't see any way of fabricating a clip big enough to chamber a cartridge that long. Maybe I'll just go with the single shot. |

I have thoughts like that but think it would be just as easy to go buy a marlin for $200.00 I can lead you to someone with a 580 single shot stock that would make a nice .17HMR rifle. HAPPY NEW YEAR and GOD BLESS EVERYONE!!!!! |

Out hunting, of course!!! Well, sort of... Went out plinking ground squirrels with a .223 @ 150yds. Interesting....40gr V-Max @ 3000fps = red stain on the bushes/rocks. I'll probably sound a little sadistic about it, but there was something gratifying about the splat they made. I never realized they would eat their own dead, but it happened twice today (yuck!). Nailed one, started glassing the hill side, looked back, and there was another one, munching away. Thought to myself "Self, that pretty weird." Then I added him to the gut pile. When I moved to another area, it happened again. I've never really spent a lot of time on ground squirrels (figured there wasn't much to eat, so why bother), but now I think I've developed a liking to passing the day tucked up under a bush, shooting these small rats. Seems to be a good way to practice for bigger critters. Hmmm.... |

I have difficulty getting on-line from home these days and will be changing service providers. I have been pretty busy hunting and working. Been doing a fair amount of Goose hunting, and went fox hunting yesterday as well. Called for a bit at first light but didn't have any takers. It has been real cold and I would have thought that I would have had a little better response. Shooting a little, my new benchrest rifle getting ready for next year. Had the opportunity to shoot in an underground shooting tunnel with it - that was great. Would love to test my .17's in the tunnel some time too, we'll see. Maybe when I get my .17HMR. |

12.4 gr. of N-120 with either the Berger or Hornady 20 gr. bullet, for 3800 fps. Start at about 12.0 gr. 13.8 gr. of Accurate 2200 with 20 gr. bullets. These are a couple of favorites........all use WW cases and WSR primers. Dan C |
