Started to go thru withdrawals! Nice new year's day red you got, congrats. I finally broke the Ice this AM, called up an old dog coyote with my Bro-in-law. He took the first shot at him from about 150 yds, 25 degree down angle with his .22-250. The coyote presented a standing head on stance and he took a shot thru the muzzle/ lower jaw. The Sako .17 with 30 gr. berger administered the coup de gras at about 175 yds, no exit. I didn't have a camera, which was probably a good thing. This was a strange stand, I tried using my foxpro, but it isn't working properly and I have to send it in. I used my hand call for about 25 minutes when we heard 2 or 3 coyotes howling downhill and downwind of us. They sounded about 600 yds off, but we couldn't spot them. After low walking thru the rocks and mountain mahogany for about 300 yds we set up again, there was some barking from the gully below us and we tried to bark him out in the open. No go. 20 minutes later, more barking and I spotted our dog on a hillside about 800 yds out. I think it was a different coyote as the previous barking was much closer. I started to call again and he trotted in to about 300 yds. Then he just started to pee and crap everywhere. I hit my coaxer a couple of times and he strolled up to meet his doom. He was downwind of us as well. You just have to love open country calling. Gary
