Still playing with the new cam. Just got the reamer for this one a few days ago and will rebarrel my CZ Varmint model for it when my gunsmith can get caught up on my other stuff. DAA named this one for me, 19 FBI for 'FireBall Improved'. Cute, DAA. Should run the 32 gr. Calhoon bullet out at 37-3800 fps. Dan C

Looks good. THis is similar to the .20 that I would like to have. The .20 Vartarg. Any reason why you went with the .19 over the .20? Looks to be a neat little round.

Jim, this is in fact a 20 VarTarg necked to 19. I've already had a 20 VT, hence the excuse for the 19! How is the Javelina coming along?? If it does not get TOO windy (30 mph), I'm going to shoot mine at 600 today to see if those Kindler 30's stay straight. Dan C

The Javelina is coming. A little frustrating since the FL die wouldn't size my cases enough to fit in my chamber. I took a shell holder to work and used a surface grinder to precisely remove 10 thousandths. It was just barely enough to make a round chamber but the bolt close is tight. I think that I should take 2 more thousandths off of the shell holder to get a better fit so I don't gall the lugs terribly. Not sure where the problem came in, since the headspace guage fits the chamber fine and the reamer specs were from Kindler as well as a dummy round that was sent along with the prints. Oh, the frustrations of a wildcatter. I just got my power adaptor for my wilson trimmer so I can trim the cases back, also got a Kinneman case holder stand that secures the case holder while trimming as well. Should make the trimming job less painful. Then I will have to turn necks - so I guess you could say that I have plenty of work ahead of me before I'm able to do anyhting with it. No problem there since I am laid up anyhow.

Did you ever chrono your 19 Calhoon? Isn't it close your 19FBI only at 27 grain pill?

Yep, that's about right Stan. My little 19 Calhoon does over 3700 with the 27's. But that bullet is way too violent for coyotes and has a mediocre BC. The 32 at that speed should put a coyote in the dirt and be fun on prairie dogs too....... Dan C

Before Christmas,I sent Don Bower a $10.00 check for a copy of any articles he may have written and one each of his cartridges. The check was cashed the first part of January.I sent him another letter a couple of weeks ago and I still have received nothing from him.Is this typical? Any ideas on how to contact him? Thanks,Joe Esther 217-322-6618

I've read that he is working on these for the various .19 cal rounds he promotes. Any idea how soon he will have them in production? Any details on them? Thanks.

Doubt it for awhile. Last time I talked to James, about 2wks ago he was right in the middle of getting completed rifles out for 19 Calhoon. Then 19-223's, then maybe poly tipped. Shot my 19-223 using Benchmark and very little copper, the PacNor barrel cleaned up in 3-5 patches. Going to start working up loads asap. Stan

Thanks to those who recommended the Berger 30 grain bullets for my .17 Remington. They are incredible on Groundhogs with 5 instant kills from 150 to 250 yards. The MEFs I was using last year just didn't work very well. Anyway, I am shooting them at 3750 fps and worked up a click chart; however, it appears to be about .5 MOA off out to 350 yards from what the ballistics program indicates based on my bottle shooting experiments. Has anyone field verified the BC of .211 at long range? Now that I am impressed with the bullet, I am going to extend my range out farther since many have indicated that this bullet should kill at longer ranges.
