Well, the 17 Ackley Bee is still on order from Fred, but I couldn't stand it any longer. A guy advertised a 218 Bee barrel last night on the T/C list, with dies, forearm, brass, scope base, etc. I couldn't pass it up at the price. Now I need some good loads. Can you help me out? Barrel is an 18" one..... Thanks. Rich

Rich,
I have found nervana with 14.0 grains of IMR 4198 and a 40 grn Sierra HP. In my Benny-actioned Bee I can cloverleaf rounds all day long. Just got some AA2200 to try. A bit slower but I am not a top end velocity freak, anyhow. Have fun. ~Andrew

I have loaded for only one 218 Bee, but found the IMR 4227 powder to be very good. I used 11.5 grains (from memory - please consult load manual) of it to push a 35 grain v-max with good accuracy. I think that 1680 would be a good choice as well. I never chronographed the loads for this gun but think that I was on the light side.

rich i have not found any 40 gr bullit any more accurate than the sierra but at the velocities a bee is capable of the bullits expansion has to be called into question. my experiance with it is it will punch a neat little 22 hole in such critters as a jack rabbit. try some 40 gr vmax if you are doing more than punching paper.
