This last weekend took the 17 HMR up to my mountain cabin and shot 11 ea. 5 shot groups. Also measured the velocity on 15 rounds. Made a short movie clip of a 17 HMR hitting a Diet Coke can full of water at 30 yards. If you single frame, you can actually see the bullet about 2 ft in front of the can before it hits. Check the link to view the results. The 17 HMR is not a benchrest caliber for sure, but I was able to get an average group size of about 0.866" with Min=0.59" and the Max=1.07" after a good barrel cleaning. The picture is of a 17 HMR impact crater in a 3/4" steel plate at about 30 yards. The larger crater is from a 270 Win at close range a few years ago. Good Hunting from Varmint Al Good Hunting from... I bet Kevin G will be going.I'm sure the Tulsa show is where he finds a lot of the rare 17's he's aquired through the years.

3696 fps. isn't it amazing what .01 gr. of powder will do.
p.s. cci500 primers were used.

What bullet did you use? My results with Lil-Gun and the 20 gr. Hornady V-Max were:
9.5 gr. 3632 fps.
9.8 gr. 3731 fps.
10.0 gr. 3786 fps. AA1680 with the 20 gr. V-Max produced the following:
11.5 gr. 3559
12.5 gr. 3848 Amazing what a little powder change can do. My rifle is a 24" barrel Cooper.
