I am still relatively new to the 17 Rem. but here is what has worked the best for me to date: Berger 25 Match Moly
Rem 7-1/2 Primer
24.0 Varget
OAL 2.175" (my max. length is 2.180")
AVG Velocity = 3820 Std. Dev. = 21 (at 40 deg.) I am shooting a Remington Classic. My 100 yd. 5 shot groups have been averaging around 1/2" with the highest being around 3/4" and smallest being around 3/8. The last time I was at the range, I fired a 5 shot group into a quarter that I taped on my target that measures 7/16". Makes a nice keychain ornament and conversation piece. My next mission is to try the Hornady 25 Moly and also to play around with seating depth. Hope this helps.

Got home early this week and looked up my loads for you.
For Varget, mine likes 23.2 grains under a 25 grain Berger. Favorite load is 22 grains of Vit N135 with a 25 grain Stake. Remember, start low and work up slow. Good luck.

I have a Remington Classic, which likes 22.5 grains of Varget behind a Starke HPFB. I use a Federal 205M primer, and COL is 2.145".

I was just reading some past comments on this website about loads for the 17 Mach IV and temperature sensitive powders. Someone made the comment that H322 was an Extreme powder and pressures spiked during hot weather. I went to the Hodgdon website to see their definition of Extreme powders. Hodgdon claims H322 is an EXTREME powder (including H4895, H4198, Benchmark and Varget) and is not sensitive to changes in temperatures. Has anyone had problems with H322 during warm weather?

There used to be some old supplies of this powder floating around which was not converted to the Extreme version. The old stuff IS temp. sensitive. Just make sure when you order some you specify the Extreme stuff.
