There's flash on this site. You need the plug-in to view it. You're also missing other cool content like this gag slide show I made for a buddy of mine last night.

Before the flames start, please be advised that it was a private joke and there were no laws broken. It was all in fun. image

Jim, thats what I am hoping for but I have the HeBee, 17 Ack Bee and 2-17 Ack Hornets. Bound to shoot in something. But-----if it doesn't then you know the answer-----a new gun. We can keep our fingures crossed.

I'll post the pic today. Mighty impressive shooting at 600 yards.

Matt,

Shooting ballons at 500 yards with a .17 will be NO problem. Like shooting fish in a barrel.

I would like to know the details of the rifle you saw that was going to used for shooting two miles. The hit probability is compounded greatly as distances get beyond 1000 yards or so. Distance needs to be calculated very accurately, mirage/wind drift, supersonic flight, and one of the biggest issues SEEING the target. At two miles there is no way you are going to see the target unless it is a very large object (car, etc). Fill me in with the details and who is going to attempt this?

First 2 misses with the Javelina

Took out the Javelina last night to try to shoot a woodchuck that I had seen over the weekend. It was too far at the time for the HMR, so I left him alone. When I got to the farm last night, there was a woodchuck in the front field near the barn. He ran off as soon as I pulled in the driveway. I drove down the lane next to the pasture to set up for the shot on spot where I had seen the hog. I laser ranged the distance at 240 yards and set up. The alfalfa is getting a little high and I didn't see any hogs. Not 10 minutes later, there he was. I got all set up and squeezed off the shot - what I sight I saw in the scope. He jumped straight up in the air, maybe a foot high. I chuckled to myself, but didn't know if I had hit him or not. He regained his composure and started to run across the field. He sure looked fine to me, so I was trying to get on him for another crack. Every time he would pause, I would try to get set on him and then he would start running again. When he got to the edge of the field, he paused for a second and I rushed off another shot but didn't connect. I went over to that field later and found no sign of a hit. Sure must have scared him good though, hope I didn't ruin my chances on him.

My javelina is zeroed for 100 yards. I don't know what my velocity is, but I think that the load is a powder puff load that can be pushed a little more. I didn't see the impact on the first shot, but did see the second shot hit just below him. I'll have to chrono the load to see where I'm at and get a good drop chart figured. Both times, I held right on and didn't use any holdover. After shooting the HMR all year so far, I was stunned at the crack of the Javelina. But I look forward to reaching out there with this gun, especially with those 30 grain boattails.
