I have been using the 281/541 series of actions for competitive 22 LR BR shooting. I am getting into the small caliper centerfire stuff and would like to know what the largest caliper the 581 and the 591 action will handle. I do my own machining and smithing, but question the strength of these little actions. Also, what type of bolt lock-up does the CZ hornet have? Locking lugs up front like most centerfires or in the back like the rimfires?

Thanks

Scott Hamilton

Scott; The CZ Hornet is a Mini Mauser. Locking Lugs up front with Claw extractor. Very Nice looking Action.

Scott: It`s been sometime since you posted this. Hope you have not given up on it. It apears it would be fine up to Hornet class cartridges. www.jamescalhoon.com
Calhoon has drawings for converting this action to 19 Calhoon.
www.certech.net
Offers componets for converting 5mm Remington to 5mm Craig.
Including new centerfire brass to match 5mm chamber.
they also give technical data on action strength.
Have been considering this conversion myself.
Also I undestand there is an article by Dick Saunders on this conversion for a cartridge called the 17 Flicker Tail.
In the Spring 2001 Small caliber News.
I intend to order that copy tommorrow.
Hope this helps
