Hi, I saw your message on Saubier re 4,6x30 cases. I've been wondering about this case for years. But I could not get any brass from the USA due to their export restrictions (no problem importing into NZ). If the cases are still available would you send them to me, in New Zealand? Cheers, John.

    Hi,
I've finally got permission to hold a 17 cal rifle. It's taken this long because the police reviewed every one of the 11,500 license holders in the Manchester area, because 4 people who weren't eligible were granted Firearms Certificates.
Bottom line, I will now send you some 17 grain BT bullets, if yo still want them? If so, please email your details to kenbrogden@hotmail.co.uk Hope you are well, regards,Ken.

    Hi Hutch

I have to make some guestimates because my version of QL does not list the 17VHA but we'll get there;-)
I need barrel length for exact speeds.

If you pop me an e-mail i can send you screendumps of the calcs.

A 30gr berger and 9.8gr 4198 will barely yield 44000psi so you're good even with a heavily compressed load.

    Henrik,

    I need a load checked, 30gr Berger, 17VHA-40° (capacity 12.5gr Alliant, 11.2gr IMR4198, 12.5gr H2O unfired with 40° shoulder, 12.7gr H20 fireformed.

Is 9.1 to 9.8gr of IMR-4198 a safe range for 30gr bullets? I have any of the following three small rifle primers available to me, CCI, Winchester, & Remington.

I remember reading that a compressed load of either H or IMR 4198 was safe in a 17AH or a 17HH under either 20gr or 25gr bullets for about 44,000psi max.

Thanks for any help you can give with this.

    Hutch, in TX

    Hi Darwin

    Need some info
    COAL
    barrel length
    What bullet

And if you can give me the weight of water it takes to fill a fires case, else i can only give you a guestimate. (1HH cases vary from @14-16 grains of water)

Bear in mind that what you is given is only a guestimate but a damn good one! The more data the better.

    Cheers mate

Finally was able to pick up my CZ527 American in 17 Hornet last week, yea!
Question could you work up a pressure curve in the 17 Hornet case using Accurate 1680 as a propellant? B4 the 17 Hornady Hornet came out Accurate 1680 had been the powder of choice in this case capacity. Pushing 20 grain pills at velocities 3750 to 3800ish.

Recent Load data from Ramshot propellants would indicate that Max pressures are being reached around 3400FPS with the A1680 propellant.

On the other hand Hornady Load data indicates while using a Winchester small rifle primer and 12.4 grains of A1680 one may reach a velocity of 3750 from a 24" Savage tube. Ramshot load data maxes out at roughly 1 grain less A1680 propellant as I recall. I am not able to access that Ramshot file at the moment.

No hurry as I hav not yet found this propellant available for sale for some time.

    Thank you!
