Price check

Pawn/LGS consignment. Sako L46 17/222 with Leupold 8X Mountaineer or Westerner AO scope in Buehler mounts with hinged rings. Pretty sure it is the original French Walnut stock with the slight beavertail forearm. Unsigned, comes with new Hornady dies, ammo and a few boxes of 25gr VMax. Has a magazine. Very nice condition. Don't know the twist. $1450. Steal, fair or a bit high?

My understanding seller is not the original owner.

Probably a decent rifle, those Sako's are. But since it must have been a rebarreled job in 17-222, I think the price is a little high.
But it will also depend on how much a buyer wants it. :)

Price

Seems a couple hundred high to me. As said above, it’s a rebarrel job. That reduces its value some in most people’s mind.

If you have seen the prices on GB lately, the price is in line. The Sako's are going nuts.

Just because it's inline on price with what's
being asked for these days don't mean it's
a good price. Way too much greed these days
on everything guns.

I'd say $1200 would be good, anything over
$1400 is too much.
Just my opinion though.

See if there's a bore scope you can look at it with.

Make a low ball offer and see the reaction.

I think $70,000 is WAY too much for a new pickup, however if I want a new pickup I will have to pay that price. Same applies to the Sako, real inflation is running over 15% so everything is going up, including guns, powder, primers and bullets. The price seems to in line with current prices. Considering it comes with a Leupold scope $400, rings $40, dies, $40 and some ammo and bullets, I think the price for that gun is actually pretty good at about $900. Unless you expect there will be a downdraft in gun prices in the next couple of years, the only decision is do you want that particular gun.

Sako

I bought a heavy barrel Sako L579 in 243, with a very poor after market stock but pristine metal, two weeks ago, $635 plus sales tax at LGS. It’s going to be a custom 7/08 with a Boyd’s laminate stock and Shilen barrel.

I think it would depend a lot on what manufacture made the barrel and was it a good smith who did the work. Try to talk him down as there's not a whole lot of guys line up to buy 17-222. I have one on Model 700 and its a great cartridge for dogs. With 25 grain V-Max expect 4000 - 4200 fps. Also check to see if its bedded.

Just bought a new factory ordered 2021 Ram 2500 longbox fully loaded Laramie, no sun roof. All in, including tax, it was $68,000 Canadian.

Side by side with my 1996, that I factory ordered and bought new also. It was $32,000 all in. Twenty four years and the price effectively doubled.

Believe it or not, the paint code for the Red on both trucks is EXACTLY the same. Ram doesn't seem to change paint colours as often as other makers.
