.221 Fireball & IMR 8208 XBX

I just acquired a Remington XP100 in .221 Fireball. The Hodgdon manual has a load using IMR 8208 XBR in the .17 Fireball but not in the .221 Fireball.

Has anyone used IMR 8208 XBR in their .221 Fireball?

I also have some R7 and load data from the Nosler Manual I will be trying.

Much thanks

Bill

I have two rifles in 221FB, but have not tried IMR 8208 XBR. I have tried/used several other powders, but both really like RL-7 and AA2200.

Don't over look the factory recommended load of 1680. Shoots outstanding in my gun.

8208XBR is going to be on the slow side for all but the 55g+ bullets.

Better is AA2200, AA1680 or Xterminator. Bill K :)

1680 will give you exceptional barrel life...in spades

I used two different loads for squirrels with the 50g tnt

one load at 2650 and the other load was at 2850, around 25K of barrel life is normal
