Looking for photos of half octagon barrel w/wedding band transition

I ran into a guy who had a number of varmint rifles that had belonged to his father who had moved to the Spokane area from western New York in the early 1960’s and brought them with him. Among them was a 44 1/2 Stevens that had a fairly stout half octagon barrel with wedding band transition.

I have a Low Wall action that the the one thing I am for sure and for certain is, it is going to be really nice when I get done with it and I want the barrel to be half octagon and I want it to have a wedding band transition.

What I am looking for are examples of wedding band transitions folks think are particularly attractive.

Look for custom muzzleloading or black powder sporting guns.

Google search half octagon-half round wedding band transition.

Doesn't look very good on round receivers. Although I saw one that was round barrel at breech end and octagon at muzzle end that didn't look to bad, but entire barrel-round and octagon were tapered--

The one I saw was a tapered barrel stout sporting rifle contour, not a heavy varmint contour barrel, but stout, that was octagon at the breech and round to the muzzle and it really stuck with me. IIRC, it was a 170 Landis Woodsman and had a Jr Targetspot scope. The guy had a half dozen of those old rifles with him, some single shots and a couple Mausers. I never got his contact info or ran into him again.

They all were really nice rifles and meeting him was like living out what I had been reading in my CS Landis books. That one rifle stuck with me.

JD you might check out some of the black powder sites, as the half octagon barrels were common with many of them.
Maybe a member has photos or information. And possible some black powder sale sites have info. :)

JD, ask this over on ASSRA.com . That's what they're about, shooting single shot rifles.
