new shooter in the mix

I had bought my 6.5 year old granddaughter Lillie a pink cricket rifle for her for Christmas 2 years ago and it was finally time for her to learn how to shoot today. We went out back and I gave her a brief safety lesson and instructions on how to load, aim and shoot. She managed to "kill" 7 diet coke cans in 8 shots. We were using CB longs at a distance of about 5 yards and they really made the cans pop. She was excited about it and said she wants to shoot the next time she comes to visit.:D

Here's a couple pics. Pardon the bald head and beer gut. It was hot out

Great, that is the way to do it. Teach and train them properly, when they are young. She will no doubt have loads of fun. Bill K :)

Now the only thing you need to do is HIDE the 10-22 and the good ammo for awhile, My failing, My daughters pink cricket jammed her brother saw his opportunity and was feverishly hurrying to kill all the reaming soda cans with his camo cricket, He really impressed me with how fast he could shoot and reload, So fast at 5 years old, I could not of kept up, She pleaded with me to PLEEEEEseeeeeee dad let me use your rifle HEeeeess shooting them all !!!!!!!

The rest is history I still have all of the remaining sub sonic ammo and the 2 safe queens 12 years later, These are the BEST years of ours and theirs glad to see you take your turn and let her shine, I cant wait to get to my grandkids....

Charlie:
You're off to a great start with the girl.
far as the bald head and gut, you'll just have to
learn to live with 'em now! (like many others here)

SEM:

I learned the same lesson with my 5y/o son while out duck hunting.
We took a break and I got him to shooting my Blackhawk 30 carbine at
a big rock. After just about all my shells were gone he wanted the good
one's and i had to refuse.
