17 Remington........

BLC2, H335,8208,Benchmark,Varget, CFE223 is what I have on hand. 20 and 25 grain Vmax along with some Noslers.
I am tempted to try some of the slower powders, but I have so darn many on hand now that didn't work in other projects. I have nothing against VV powders, other than they are just so spotty to find in this part of the country for some reason. With that being said, I don't care to go down that road as I have in the past.

I would prefer to go with one of the powders that is not temp sensitive. Hate to work a load and find it to have issues on a hot day next spring.

Try starting with 22.8 gr of 8208 with your 25 grain Vmax and work your way up. I suspect you will find something you like before reaching 24.0 grains. At least I did...;)

I've seen very tight groups with blc2 and 20 gr bullets. The varget with 25 gr bullets should be about as temperature stable as any. I had no luck with 25 gr vmax in my 1/10 twist Shilen select match. I shot a lot of Red Fox with win 760 and the Berger 25 gr match varmint, or the Hornady 25 gr hp. Benchmark and the Hornady hp is a good all around combo.

I did dig around in my powder stash, found a pound of 760, have no idea what I used it in.
Loaded up some 8208 and CFE 223 with Nosler and Vmax. Gives me a starting point at least. If the CFE groups well, it will be a win win. I have done a fair bit of reading this past week, I didn't really see any trend towards a specific powder other than 4320.
Thanks

I use Varget in my 17 and have been more than happy with it.

I had very good luck with varget in two different.17 rems with the 25 vmax bullets then I switched to imr 4320 with about the same results.

I'm using Varget with 25 grain Hornady and Berger bullets with easy sub MOA groups.

I use H4895 powder with Hornady 25gr HP`s bullets and 20gr & 25gr V-Max bullets, in my CZ 527 17REM Varminter. All three loads shoot way under a 1/2 inch. I like this rifle more every time I shoot it. I am a real CZ Rifle Fan.

I can agree with this. 23.9 gr. pushing a 25gr. Nagel was the sweet spot in mine.
