Sightron Target Knob re-set

Hopefully someone has the answer. I would like to re-set the knobs on my SIII to zero. The instruction says what size allen key to use - either a 1.5 mm or the next size up in 64ths. I tried every metric and inch key and bit I have, one being the 1.5 mm, and nothing works. These are the knobs with the 3 grub screws around the circumference of the knob, not the ones with the torx through the center of the top. Anyone know what to do?

Scope

Try a 1/16 th inch allen wrench. That's what mine takes. Good luck!

Thanks. My 1/16 doesn't do the job. Maybe buy another and hope for a better fit. Does your 1/16" fit well?

Allen set

That's what fits my Sightron 6x24 scope. If a 1/16" doesn't work I do not know what to tell ya. Is it a allen type set? Dave

Wrench

They used to supply one in the box with the instructions and a yellow lens cleaning cloth. If you can’t find one, let me know and I will send you one. I have purchased enough Sightrons over the years I’m sure I have a spare floating around somewhere.

Yep one in every box, that's why I have a jar full of Allen keys...;)

In today's world, a lot of tools are made in China and are either undersize or oversize. The result is needing to measure the tool to see if they are of the correct size. Your other option is to try a torx bit.

Hah! There was a bag with the appropriate wrench stuck under the bag with the yellow cloth! Never noticed it.

Now, I discovered that one of the 3 holes in the windage knob is missing its grub screw. Of course, it was the one easiest to get to, and I was trying to make an allen wrench fit the screw that wasn't there. Don't suppose anyone has a spare grub screw.

Thanks for helping me.

Harold

Screw

Harold—I don’t have one of those laying around but perhaps you could pull another out and take it to your local Fastenal or comparable fastener supplier and they could fix you up? Or possibly the folks at Sightron could send you a spare or two, alternatively?

I'll bet a call to Sightron will get one headed your way.
