Weaver Scopes

At my local gun shop last week and inquired about getting a Weaver Grand Slam scope. To my surprise I was told they are now made in China ? Can anyone confirm this ? I have looked at there web site and can only see that some mounts are USA made, but no mention of scopes.

I think the Kaspa series were/are. Are there any Weavers being made at all now?

Pete,
The Weaver Grand Slam scope was made in Japan. Weaver stopped making scopes about 2 years ago. If you find any in stock they are the last ones. I think Natchez Shooters Supply still has a few models of Grand Slam left.

I sure like the Philippines made V16's. Very nice glass for the $$.

I wouldn’t say Weaver quit making scopes, Vista dropped them and Millet. The way I see it they bought some competition and then put it out of business.

Vista’s bean counters have made a mess of several companies they bought. I WAS a big Bushnell fan and user. What was some good glass everyday working guys could get into without selling a kidney is gone. They have zero repairs anymore, toss it and send ya another one. Send in say a 4500 series for repair ya get back tacticool chicom junk.

I sent them an extensive lengthy email two years ago. Got a big fat zero response. I have moved to Burris, Vortex and Leupold.

Thank you all for the replies, I have a made in Japan Weaver 6-20x40 and just love it. The click adjustments are perfect, glass is great. I am building a Sako 222 Varmint rifle and wanted another Weaver scope to put on top of it. I will take the Weaver off my Sako 223 Sporter and replace it with a Leupold 3.5-10x40 scope.

Again Thanks to all.

I probably have 6-7 V16's. I picked up an old 4x to put on an early L46 for a period correct look.

Japanese Clearidge scopes.

These are made in the same Japanese factory where Weaver Grand Slams were made.

Excellent quality - decent prices. I have several and am very happy with them. I like their reticle choices.

Order direct from Clearidge. There is no middle-man.

Looked over the Clearidge scopes and they look much like the old Weaver scopes. Prices seem OK as well. Thanks for the link.
