Unfortunately, same as before, first link works but the second/lower one is no bueno.

This one doesn't have the sound but there ain't much anyway. When the bull has been snorting that that cows flanks and then stands up broadside, the guy with Greg says "There's your shot if ya want it". Greg did and there's a rifle crack and all the elk stand up. The bull stands there while all the other's clear out and then another crack. The bull starts stumbling forward and the Guy with Greg says "that's heart"! The bull does a nose-plant and it's all over.

I guess some of us just ain't cut out to do stuff on the computer and it looks like I'm one of em. Fortunately I don't care much :D.
Nice Bull Greg got, bet ya couldn't cut the gravy with a chainsaw. I'm into those trophy ears on those big ole fat cows but we live on elk. Fat cow that's been eating alfalfa and barley is more to the brides liking, mine too for that matter. But I'm betting Greg is real pleased with that bull so God bless him and I'm glad he got what he wanted. He did say it was real tasty.

P.S.
For those that are curious he shot it with a .17 Ackley Hornet...…..or maybe it was a 7MM-Imperial Magnum and a 180 grain Berger ;).
He shot it in the extreme North West corner of Colorado on private land I think he said.

Thanks.

That one does, Thanks Doug and Aaron. Very nice bull. However he could have saved the second shot, that bull would have just bleed and laid down. Bill K :)

I'm with Bill K. That Bull was dead standing there. He just didn't know it yet. However, Greg was very ethical to put the second shot into him. It did in fact put him down a little faster. I just don't like damaging meat. I wonder how far that shot was. That's a very nice looking heard of Elk. My dream is to go west someday and bag one. And I don't care if it has horns or not. I eat the animals I harvest.

The immediate area where he shot the bull looked fairly accessible, but many times in elk country a deep ravine or other issues aren't very far away if you let them walk off and bleed out. It's best to positively drop them in good terrain if possible.

Besides, two well place shots in the lung area won't ruin a pound of hamburger meat.

Don't get me wrong guys, I am not faulting a person for a second shot, if they think the animal may take off and up the odds of loosing it.
It all depends on what the situation is at the time. I have hit them hard, like his first shot and then just watched, prepared for a second shot, if needed and also had to put another in to anchor them. It just depends. I just thought in this case, it looked like that bull was going to just slowly sink into the turf and bleed right then and there. Bill K :)

The big trouble out here in the high country hills with game that's
dead on their feet and not down.
IS: They usually run to the bottom of the steepest damned gully in miles
to die.

Then you have to pack 'em out of that nasty hole.
I've had quite a few "experience's" with such doings.

Good for Greg. Hope he like's horn soup! Looks like there's plenty to make
it with.

Thanks for sharing Doug, or trying at least. Time to go get yours soon.
