Derimming die steel
Hi
I'm making some 224 bullets out of 22 lr cases.
But the derimming die insert is short-lived, has a lot of wear.
I'm thinking of making one, but I don't know which steel is more suitable,...

I ended up making a core squirt die (SAE 52100...
I ended up making a core squirt die (SAE 52100 steel )with a diameter suitable for longer jackets and it worked perfectly. Now, the core has a diameter of .181 and goes to the bottom of the jacket.

The cores are same diameter( from same die) but J4 jackets 224 caliber .700" long have larger inside diameter at the botton than those .930" long.
It looks like it has a taper...

Cores pop off
Hello all
I already have done a lot of 223 52 grains bullets just fine.
But now, I'm having trouble making 224 bullets.
When doing core seating, the core doesn't stick to the jacket wall...

BT bullets
The results for 73 grains bullets were horrible.
While with 52 grains FB I can do 1/4 groups frequently, the 73 grains averaged 1 inch. (1/9 twist krieger barrel)
But I have one question. ...

I have a set of Blackmom steel dies who make very good 52 grains FB bullets, on par with Sierra and Berger.
Today adjusted the core weight to make 73 grains bullets on .930" J4 jackets.

Hi guys
When seating the cores on .705" J4 224 jackets, the core hits the jacket botton.
But with the .920" jackets, the core stop .200" above the botton. Seems that the jacket ID is smaller...

There is a basic rule about how deep must be the cavity(hollow portion)? Or this is a "do and see" question?
And I just swage some 224" FB .930" lenght J4 jackets, and they come fine.
But...

Is a 15 ton hidraulic press strong enough to make lead wire for 224 bullets?
Lead wire is almost impossible to get in my country.
