Parent cartridge of 17 Remington ?
Had always thought that the parent cartridge of the original 17 Remington was the 223 Remington with some obvious changes.
Tonight someone was telling me that it was the 222 Remington Magnum.

Have an Excel engineering drawing of the Pacific Tool & Gauge reamer used to make my 17 Remington Fireball barrel at Pac-Nor.

Pac-Nor says my 17 Fireball barrel is ready
Talked to Pac-Nor today.
They said my 17 Remington Fireball barrel for the Savage is ready. Said it was the first barrel made on their new reamer.
Called MidwayUSA. Got their only set of 17...

Other than cosmetics which is in the eye of the beholder, is there any advantage to a Remington 700 bolt action over a Savage bolt action for building a varmint rifle ?

My first rifle was a 222 Remington custom job built on a Sako action converted to left-hand. Barrel was by C. Grossman. Had a 6-18X Redfield on it. A most beautiful piece of highly figured walnut....
