Don't be too surprised if it turns out to be a good shooter, I bought a Ruger Predator in 6.5CM for a knock around rifle and it shoots sub MOA all the way to 400 yards with Hornady Precision Hunter...

If you get a good one they're a lot of gun, ammo consistency is it's bugaboo, mine shoots bug holes with one lot of 15 gr. and 1 1/2 MOA with most ammo.

Nice, I picked up a Chromie with grooved receiver last year, it was full of muck but cleaned up well. Great little rifles.

Actually my Howa 1500 in .30-06 is threaded 1/2x28, barrel is too skinny for 5/8x24, I have a Nomad-30 but also have the threaded insert for 1/2x28 for it, end caps are available for .22/.30.

My first centerfire rifle was a 1891 Cavalry Carbine, a poor Sgt. in the Air Force it was all I could afford, yeah it kicked for sure and the steel butt plate didn't help either.
