I've shot a few thousand of them at 3000 to 3100 fps out of a .222 14" TC barrel and a Ruger No. 3 .22 K-Hornet. At that speed they are very explosive on Prairie Dogs. Never did try them in anything...

cases

Thanks for the offer, but I don't need them. I have about 160 cases that will last me for the duration. Handgun silhouette is almost dead and at 75 years old I probably won't be shooting it much...

.270 ren

Trim length for .270 REN is 1.280. Most likely what you have. I've shot a 10" TC barrel in that caliber for about 20 years in Field Pistol class at silhouette matches. I shoot the .277 90gr Sierra HP...

gunsmith

Steve,
If you're in Northern indiana, you are a short drive from one of the best precision gunsmiths there is. Mark Penrod in North Manchester, In.
I haven't talked to him for several years, but as...

While in college in 1964 I wanted a car but was on a real tight budget. Bought a 51 Ford without engine for 20 bucks. Only had $200 in it after installing 52 Cadillac V8, bellhousing adapter, floor...

.219 Wasp fps

My accuracy load of 29.3gr N135 50gr ballistic tip ran 3560fps out of the 27" barrel on my Ruger No.3. Other loads approached 3650fps and never showed signs of excess pressure. I found loads with...

.222 tc

My first real varminting was in 1986 with a PD safari to S.D. My two varmint guns for that trip were a TC with 14" .222 barrel and a Sako L461 .223 rifle. I still have the .222 TC.

17 Mach IV load

I had a Sako L-461 rebarreled by Pacnor with a 10" twist 24" SS super-match barrel back in 1999. My plan was to shoot the 20gr V-Max. I tried the normal powders at that time, H322, N133, 2015 with...

6.5 BB Imp

Doug,
I've been shooting a 15" 6.5 BB Imp. match barrel in handgun silhouette competition for 18 years. I traded for the slightly used barrel at a gun show and also got a set of Redding dies and...

Universal Clays

A couple of years ago I needed to fireform some cases for a wildcat that is close to the size of your 22-250AI. My .22/38-55 holds about 41 gr of H4350 under a 55 gr bullet but I didn't want to use...

I tried a couple of boxes of them many years ago. If memory serves me right they shot virtually the same as the moly coated Nosler Ballistic Tips of the same weight. Didn't shoot too many because...

S.D, May 09, first PD shoot with my .204 Wasp Ruger No.1. I had about 400 rounds to fireform with 40 V-Max's at 4040 fps. Kept shooting farther later in the day in almost perfect conditions (no...

Always glad to read about someone using a No.3 as a PD rifle. We're kind of a small fraternity. Looks great and as we know they will shoot with a good barrel and a little tweaking. I've had two...

.222 Rimmed brass

Hotshot,
I've shot a .222 Rimmed TC barrel since '86. Most of my brass has been .357 Max necked down. The neck ends up about .070 short but it works OK. Back in the early 90's I found 80 rounds of...

No.1 gunsmith

Mark has rebarreled four for me, top quality, but like Chuck said not cheap. He does a great work on the triggers also.

.17 Wasp

I've not had a .17 Wasp, but my .204 Wasp is close. I don't have any problem necking down either R-P or WW 30-30 brass to .20 caliber and two more bushings would get you to .17. Lapua brass with...

Is the trigger the one that Mark makes? Looks like the pics I've seen on the wall at his shop. If so how is it performing? I would assume it's first class like all his work. I've had him adjust...
