Have you ever tried Unique or Red Dot in your quest for "slow-ness?" I have not, but both would probably be worth trying. Probably some data in the FB or similar cartridges in the older Lyman...

It's all fun and games right now, but if November 3 goes the wrong way, our gun rights will be out the window in short order. Vote!

Try the search feature on the forum. If this has been discussed, that would be the way to find it. Also could PM Gary Wenzl -- I think he has or had one of those.

As you start forming your cases, form a little, release the pressure and turn the case a little, repeat as needed. I found this would clear up the problem most of the time.

Reforming .223

I have made a lot of different stuff out of .223 brass of all kinds, the smallest being the .22 TCM. While more tedious than making Vartarg brass out of .221 Fireball, the cost and availability of...

Single shot all the way. I have rigged single shot adapters in all of my repeater magazines. Even the last remaining .22LR I have is a single shot (Rem 580). Years ago I was teased about deer...

The Things We Wrestle With

Having both, I offer a few comments on each:

The 20 VT won my heart right off the bat, in spite of being a little more labor intensive to form (from LC .223). Given that .221 FB brass is a little...

Winchester 748 was my go-to powder for .223's for a long, long time. Pretty much any case, Remington 7 1/2 primers, 26.5 grains. OAL depended on bullet. A huge favorite was the Hornady 55 grain SX...

.17 Rem or .17/223

Performance should be pretty close. .223 brass is common as grass and easy to form; .17 Rem brass not so much. I had a .17/223 years ago and liked it. However, if I were doing a project like...
