I have both the 17H and 22H in 527 American.
The 17 shoots the tighter groups if that is your thing.
17gn home swaged projectile 10.1gn of AR2205, federal SR primer,
20gn zmax shoot pretty good...

water spots? Can not get them dry?
First world problem. Makes no difference, just a feel good I suppose. As to not getting them dry, put them next to the heater and come back in a day. This is...

^^^^^ this good info. I run a set of Dr Blackmons dies in my D Corbin S press. No dramas as long as you tell him what press you are using. The beauty about swaging is making what you want. Do not...

Camel is on the money, I make my 17 cal jackets out of 22rf cases. Once drawn to 17 any imperfections from the original rim are ironed out and with a push through, pinch trim die a very neat jacket...

I have no issues with the magazine, I think chopping it up is a backwards step. Why would you reduce you mag capacity? It works, solid and reliable. Why spend money to go backwards?

Make it a HP
I swage an evil 48gn HP with the HP going almost 1/2 way down the core. Useless for high speed as it becomes unstable but with 1.8-2.0gn of TB it is an explosive pill at less than 1000f/s out of a...

Jackets
I think some people get a bit wrapped around the axles as to jacket quality.
You can make a very good jacket out of the old 22 RF case. Apparently factory jackets are very good and consistent but I...

What reed1911 said is about right.
The Lapua brass is a little softer and easier to derim and I find Winchester brass quiet hard and brittle these days. If you are going to draw it down and trim to...

I have played around with the 20gn, Z/V brothers for the last week trying to see how much they break up at lower velocity. Please note that none of these projectiles were pushed past 2100f/s and the...

Totally agree that it seems to be a tad more consistent if the case is more than 50% full. Mind you, with this powder and this small case that is only 2gn of powder. I am pretty sure Trailboss is...

Have you checked the expansion of a 20 grain Vmax at the lower velocities you get with 3.0 grains of TB powder. When I checked the Zmaxs, same bullet, they still opened up real good all the way down...

17gn and Trailboss
This is a bit of a older thread but currently relevant as I had a comment the other day to say that the 17H that I have been running at full noise was " quite loud".
Bit of a story, but,

7 cents each is a bloody good price. I would not swage projectiles for that.
