With gas prices being plain stupid now, driving to prime GS country is getting spendy, so been staying close to home and doing a bit of rockchucking locally.
You'll all most likely remember
Scootertrash here. Our dear departed friend Mike Hennessy from Lake George UT. This was his Cooper M38 20VT he sent me just before his passing. I promised Mike I'd take proper care of her and take her afield as much as possible, so I'm thinking Mike would approve. I only added the Leupy LR and a Jard 10 oz trigger.
Nice mornings for taking a rifle for a walk in the sage, junipers and lava rocks. With a few VT's in my pack with Nosler 32gr VG's over RL-7, lit by 7-1/2's in Lapua cases. Seems 'just right'.
Good thing for 300mm lens too.
Lately I've also been using my Cooper M38 Phoenix in 221FB to take advantage of it's synthetic stock when chucking in and around the lava rock. Sure don't want to goon up those nice Claro stocks on my Coopers or any other of my wood stocked rifles. These guys were from my 20VT outing.
There's a certain pleasure gained from little cartridges like the 20VT and it's brethren, and it only takes a nice morning in the sunshine on a walkabout to bring it home.
