It's winter. You need to add some humidity to your house.
Also, washing the dippers in warm water with some dishwashing detergent and dry them off with a towel.
You could also use or make metal dippers by using some pistol cases like 380, 9mm, 38Spl, 44Mag, cases. Cut them off to make smaller ones. If they are too hard to hold, you could always solder some heavy copper wires or thin brass sheet stock to make handles.
