Thanks for all the info. I’m not looking for air rifles or slower moving lead bullets. I was only trying to figure out why anyone would want or use them.

I do not live in a heavy populated area although I do have one neighbor across the road and another about 3/4 miles of me. I prefer the 17HM2 for back yard work and recently I have got back into shooting the slower 22 LRs and have been having great fun.

I can normally talk myself into anything but I don’t recon I’ll be buying a 17 caliber mold anytime soon. However if bullets get hard to buy someday it may be nice to have a mild around just in case.
