Pretty much beyond a grey area if you catch you with an adapter and filter screwed on to the end of the barrel. I've seen them called solvent catchers, but it's really difficult to clean a loaded rifle with the filter screwed on the muzzle.
Even if you beat the charge, your legal fees would be considerable.
