First bonafide chuck rifle was a Savage 340 in 222, back in the 60’s. They were $65 and I saved and had the old man kick in for a Tasco 10X. I was king, one buddy had a hornet, the other a 303 Enfield....no scope.
Typical Saturday, got dropped off @ 303’s house about 9 AM and started walking from there until 6-7 that night, anything over about 150yds was mine as the official “long range” guy. Walked a lot of fields, boy.
Saved every penny to buy ammo.
