Fast twist .225 Winchester
Hello I would like to glean information from users of the .225 Winchester as well as anyone shooting heavier .224 bullets for medium game use. Such as the 65gr Sierra game-king or other options. is there such a thing as too fast when using a 1-7 or 1-8 twist? I'm looking to build a 225 win with a fast twist to shoot bullets between 60-75 that are not designed to blow up or cause significant meat damage. I have limited experience with 60gr partitions but in a 1-12 twist. never a fast one.

I have been going through my buddies stuff as he is getting out of shooting, among his rifles was a Browning 1885 low wall that had been re-chambered from 223 to 225, so its a 9 twist 225 win. I haven't shot the gun, I really thought about trying to buy it. I think it would make a great carry gun out here for deer or antelope with 60+gr bullets.

fast twist .225
My experience with heavy .224 bullets on anything bigger than a PD is very limited, having only shot two coyotes with the 75gr A-Max. I did have a 14" twist .225 Ruger No.1 for several years that I used to shoot PD's and paper, so I have a lot of experience with the cartridge. My wildcat .219DW PDK has almost identical powder capacity as the .225 but uses 30-30 brass. My second rifle in this chambering is a No.3 with a 8"twist Shilen. I shoot the 75gr A-Max at 3200fps with H4350 powder. Lots of info about what you're wanting to shoot over on 6mmBR.com in the small cal. and hunting forums. From what I've read, with a 8" twist you can shoot almost anything from a 40gr to 80gr.
Here is a link to the two coyotes that I shot with the 75gr A-Max. The first broadside shot probably would have killed any antelope or deer sized animal. http://www.saubier.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19986 Something to be aware of is the weight of .225 brass. The brass from 40 factory rounds that came with the used .225 No.1 that I bought back in 1995 was about 20 grains heavier than the 300 rounds of bulk brass that I bought.
