I bought a few thousand 20gr XTPs from Heck Phillips a few years back. He had/ has a good stock pile of them.

How did they shoot at increased speeds in a centre fire... and most importantly how did they perform on bigger game?!

I think it might be time to try 25gr bergers or 25gr hp hornady. I've never had a ruined pelt using my .17 remington and no run offs.
I would have expected shallow wounds using a v-max or bt. Use a good soft point or controlled expansion bullet and you won't have this problem. I learned my lesson using a .220 swift with 55gr v-max a few years ago! I don't care to sew large holes

Has anyone tried these? I bought several hundred of these a few years back from Midway.. A 20 grain FMJ............ They shoot quite well in a 17 M4/17 FB case size. I plan to try them in the 17 HH for range fire forming of necked down 22 Hornet cases.

Hell of a mess certainly, I would be looking at a frontal chest entry with a bigger caliber bullet at perhaps 130 yards with 20 cal or maybe 170 yards with a 6mm.

Killed a few bobcats with them, no visible entrance and a nickel sized exit. This was with a 17Jav and moving at 4100fps.

Sooooo frustrating hearing about all the different 17 cal bullets available in the USA

So the 20gr XTP performs well even at elevated velocities... good to know.
Will test my pulled bullets at the range this weekend... be easier on my fingers to be able to buy them in bulk

20gr FMJ sounds great... love to try them in the 17 Hornet.
How did it perform on game... just penciled through I'd guess but did they run far?

Default By popular demand... a couple of 25gr too

Hornady 25gr HP vs Remington Power-Lokt HP (now discontinued...)

Judging by their construction, the Remingtons seem closet to a controlled expansion type... I couldn't find much of a hollow point when sectioning

Unusually shaped base, too... had to use a bit of Blutac to make it sit up properly for the photo.

Copper jacket electrolytically plated to lead core, forming a perfectly balanced, concentric projectile for true flight.

Thanks to Con for his donation... much appreciated!
