Differences in Sako L461 and AI for 20 VT build
If I were to find a Sako L461 or AI for a 20 VT build, would it matter whether it was a 222, 223, or 222 Magnum? Did they use the same magazine box, follower, and follower spring for each one? Did the 222 have a block? Is there any difference in price between the cartridge choices?

No differences, and no blocks, in the L461/AI series of actions.

20 vt
I had a 20vt in an A1. Sold it. Worked great. Still have a 221 fb in an A1, also a great gun.

My A1 in .222 shoots too well to re-barrel.

Same here. My A1 in .223 shoots really well. The first loads were 40 VMAX with AA2200, and never looked back. First groups were 0.4"- 0.5" for 5 shots at 100yds. What's not to like. That load was from my M70 HBSS PD rifle, and clocked 3675fps out of the M70.

Did you rebarrel with stainless or chrome moly for your 20 VT and 17 Mach IV? Did you stay with the factory barrel contour or choose something different? |

What made you keep the 221 Fireball and not the 20 VT? |

If you shoot it enough eventually you will have to rebarrel it
