Default .17 Hornet

Hello I would like to gain some insight on running the .17 Hornet through a 18" barrel? I had a barrel being made last month in the .17 WSM and after seeing the price of ammo locally, I had them ream the chamber out to a .17 Hornet. Am I still going to get some form of efficiency or did I just doom myself It was supposed to be a 100 meter special purpose rifle for the wife. She even gave me the go ahead on it

On a guess, I would think that considering only about 9 or 10 gr. of powder for the case that you won't lose too much velocity.
Maybe take a look at 22 Hornet velocities for pistol/rifle to get an idea.

I have a 17AH in a 14" barrel and a 22" barrel. They both run really close in speeds. Less than 40fps between them. Maybe one is a slow barrel and the other is fast, I don't know.
