Slightly different situation, when i was doing my SCUBA diving course our instructor told us to never ever dive without a diveknife, one of the guys on the course asked if it was for protection if attacked by a shark ,the instructor answered with a straight face yes what you have to do was stab your dive buddy and swim like hell
cheers Ivan
PS the diveknife is really for cutting rope or fishing lines if you get tangled up in them,a shark's skin is too tough to have much hope of killing one with a knife

This is my second time back on this bear story. I really thought the story was funny, especially the way it lead you to believe the woman may have actually fought off the bear with a little .25acp. I told the story to my wife and she almost wet herself she was laughing so hard. Hum, kinda got me thinking -- better not go for any walks with her if it's in bear territory.
