SDguy605, I think I remember seeing that Remington was offering the 17 Fireball in one of its rifles again. Don't remember which model?

That will be good - glad to see some life being breathed back into this cartridge. I have already scratched that itch though.

Suppose if I really want one in a 527 Ill need to build it, or find someone who has that has that is wishing to part with a CZ 17 FB.

My 20 Vartarg attracts quite a bit of attention at the range. Lots of guys ask about the light recoil, how quiet it is, and when they see the results on the target they are really interested. But when I tell them it is a wildcat and I have to fire form brass, their interest cools.

If there were factory rifles and ammo offered in it, I have no doubt in time the 20VT would become a mainstream caliber.

I'm not sure about CZ, but unless there is a factory round made and approve by CIP, we cannot make a rifle for it. Even if there were 10,000 standing orders. Every rifle needs to be pressure tested at our factory. Gotta have the ammo commercially available first.

I'm all for it though - I have a BAT SV in .20 VT that is amazing.

I believe that HSM is supplying 20vt ammo. Guess that does not quite qualify as factory ammo ....... but it is a start. Burt

most factory gun makers won't produce a caliber that isn't supported by factory ammo makers such as the case for the 20VT. sad but true.

Default well

I would be pretty happy if CZ would just sell a "Kit Rifle". Basically a Stock with a complete 221 FB action, and an unchambered barrel. A 17 cal and a 20 cal barrel would be cool. Then you could send the kit to your gunsmith and have him chamber it.

Now I am wondering if converting a 17 HH to 17 FB is and easy job. Off the top of my head, I am thinking a magazine and extractor change, rechamber, and open the bolt face is all that would be needed.

Now that is an interesting idea, one I have never seen tossed around before.

Did they say anything about doing the 17 Fireball instead That sure would be nice.

If they would build a 527 Varmint 17 Fireball to match my 17 Hornet, with the same price tag. I would have a new rifle. Nelson
