If you want to get anywhere near the lands, with your bullet seating, you'll need to carefully spec. the chamber reamer's freebore as short as possible.

Hope this helps.

My understanding is that the 20 Practical chamber, as specified by it's designer, is cut to allow bullets seated to AR magazine length of 2.26" to be close to the lands & eliminates the problem of not being able to seat bullets near or touching the lands seen with other 20 wildcats. The 20 Practical is a good match for the L461 as it does have a limited OAL capability. Mine was chambered by Shilen with the "standard" 20 Practical reamer with what is supposed to be a .234" neck. I size the necks with a .228" bushing which gives a .230" loaded neck diameter. Other brass may vary.

Default 20 Practical

If you check out AccurateShooter.com you will find a article, under the 20 cal section. where Robert whitley developed and worked the 20 Practical for AR's and bolt actions. Plenty of decent info and also info on steps for easy forming of the round. Bill K
