17gr GSC SP 9.7gr 300MP 1 in 9" twist
Pineapple took it in the face. Estimated at about 3850fps from 20 yards. So, if there are expansion problems as many may suggest exist with a solid bullet, I am not seeing it. Here from top to bottom are 10 loaded , an entrance side photo after impact, and then in the third photo the back of the same pineapple. Last edited by 17tbs; 03-29-2017 at 04:33 PM. I have no problem with a solid bullet, but you might not have the same results beyond 100 yds, as compared to 20. Let us know. Bill k

I haven't tried these on meat, aka venison on the hoof at any range, with this small of a bullet placement is extreemly important for any game at any range, but especially over 100 yards. The bullet will probably not expand at impact velocities under 2800 fps. They group well enough, and unless they turn base forward after impact which I suspect is unlikely then higher launch velocities are necessary for such hydrostatic damage at extended ranges. Here is one launched through 8 inches of beach sand in a can on end. The can was essentially exploded, I believe that this is about the best I can hope for with a tiny 17gr projectile at high velocity. Since these are almost pure copper, they still expand with enough velocity. I have launched these at 4760 fps from a Remington 700 26 inch barreled .172" Fireball. I never did recover a projectile launched from the 17FB at this high velocity, The one below was launched with 9.7gr of 300MP from the 18.75" TC barrel into wet sand and almost escaped the target media.
