Thanks Kerry. That is perfect.
My Cooper 38's in 20 VT and 22 Hornet have the newer bolt with the larger lugs. Good to know the difference when looking at used rifles for sale. |

Thanks Kerry.
The Model 38 with the larger locking lugs was built approx. early to mid 2006 or latter. The original 38 bolt length was 3.883" (with the firing pin removed) and he locking lug length is 0.199" The latter 38 bolt length is 3.965" (again with the firing pin removed) and the length of the locking lugs is 0.302" The model 21 bolt length is 4.805" and the locking lug length is 0.402" If you have a M38 that is chambered in 17 MachIV, 17 Fireball, 20 Vartarg or 221 Fireball then it was most likely built between mid 2006 and late 2011. Does anyone have a left hand M38 in 20 Vartarg for sale?..……..Kiwi |
