ANZAC DAY
LEST WE FORGET
Was at the Dawn Service today with my 90 year old father in law, always get emotional when I think about what these men went through in WW1 and WW2
and the ones that didn't come home

Ivan google melbourne herald sun, story about 6 brothers, all killed in action.
Just hard to get your head around that figure.

Was looking at those photos of the turks & our mob sitting around sharing a smoke, then back into the trenches and at again. Its was a terrible and strange battle

At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them

Lest We Forget

LEST WE FORGET

I watched the Dawn service live from Villers-Bretonneux in the Somme... very moving.

Staggering to think so many young lives were lost in such a short period...

Thank you, Daryl. I was impressed by the ANZAC Memorial in Sydney.

Let me take a moment here to thank the Aussies that worked around us in the Delta, They were spot on whenever we needed them.

I remember being picked up by a huey that was flown by an Australian pilot with a full red beard. It about freaked me out when I ran up to him to tell him how many were boarding and he turned his head back to me as I ran up. I was looking a very dark helmet faceplate with a full trimmed beard sticking out.

I knew that our RTO had trouble understanding the communication from the choppers coming in. We have never been picked up by forces other than US. It was as good a flight out of the delta as we had ever had once we got over the first look. The CO did not see it until we landed and then he had the double take then. It was good for laughs and I would have gladly gone again with that outfit.

The Aussies also marched into Bob Hopes show with rifles, khakis tropical uniform, stacked arms and seated with nothing more than the drums giving the commands.

Made me feel pretty laid back with the clean but rumpled jungle fatigues and the casual manner that we were sprawled out around the stage. They were a class act.

So thank you to our allies and for what your country has given to keep this world as free as it is.

Something that might interest you, we brought home our last MIA a couple of years ago. There had been an small operation going for a long time with the locals over there. The pilots remains were recovered and brought back to aussie.

I know you have many men missing there
