Be aware that 222 Rem Magnums won't fit in the 222 Rem magazine. Nor will you be able to eject a loaded round. If you "want" a bolt action single shot 222 Rem Mag I guess it would fit the bill. Any value it may have had as a "nice" L46 Sako was destroyed when it was rechambered. IMHO, it's only value is as an action with stock for a new barrel or as a parts gun & the current bid ($495) is at or near it's "value" right now to any knowledge Sako buyer.

You beat me to it. Yes, the L46 is limited to the .222 length cartridges; it is the L461 that will accept the .222 Mag length. Working on one now, going to become a .204.
For those that don't know, the easiest way to spot them is the safety. The L46 has a large rolling knob for the safety, the L461 has a sliding safety. Although it is hard to tell from pictures, the L46 has a removable mag (holds 3) and the L461 is a double stack fixed mag (holds 6). I prefer the L461 over the L46, but regardless, anytime I see one in good condition at a fair (to me, not the market) I snatch them up.
