Default Redux decision time.

Time to thin chamberings and simplify my reloading life.
End use will be squeeks, p dogs, rock chucks and occasional ground hog.

Bbl Stash = 204, 224 both w/11 TW or faster, 6mm bbls up to 7.5tw

Reamers: 20VT, 20 Duster, 20 Tac, 223AI, 22-250AI, XC, 6.5 Creed.

Brass: 222 Lapua and Win, all new, a lot.
223 Lapua, PMC, IMI, LC new and/or 1x. A lot. 22ppc a lot, 7.62x39 PMC, IMI, a lot. 6ppc plenty, 308 large & small primer for xc or Creed brass mfrg.

Chambered bolt guns: 19-223 w/400 brass, 20BR bbl, 20 Prac bbl, 223, 223AI, 22-250, several 6ppc, 6BRs, Dasher, BRX, XC.
I'm think b/c of lack of popularity and market, I'll keep the 19 for squirrels. The 20 Prac bbl will screw right on that Savage.

A Bud will chamber for me or may do it myself, while cutting my teeth.
So, in light of simplifying things with above end use, time to stop acquiring and burn the powder and primers I've been stock piling.
Suggestions? Thoughts?

Hi Tom, a guy sure can "rat hole" a lot of stuff over a lifetime. If you do decide to reduce your inventory, what are the contours on the 11 twist 204 barrels? Also, what is the 22PPC brass...Lapua or Norma?...new or fired? Thanks

Gene

Default Hey Gary, really looking for pros and cons

On what's available to me. Will let you know abt bbls after the smoke clears.
I'm thinking the Duster would be easier to form. Not into the 17s or smaller.

Guys, I pondered listing my stuff cause it could seem as if I were trying to impress. I also think this is a drop in tha bucket for many of you. But I felt that a question would arise of: What do you have to work with?
To everyone, please, what are your recommendations?
I am retired and do have a set of the PBike257 neck reducing dies to facilitate moving necks and shoulders. Thanks, Tom

Well, you don't seem to have a .378" bolt face 6mm. Yet.

6x45, 6x45AI, 6TCU, 8 or 9 twist, 55g-58g for the little critters, 65-75 vmax or 70 NBT/VG/BK for the bigger ones.

Just got my 6TCU repeater (AICS style single stack mag) back together (new barrel), 27" 8tw 3 groove. .045" FB not a 'std' long throat TCU. 70 Varmageddon base is 3/4 in the neck at the lands. Lots of OAL room in the mag, lots of powder room in the case. Single stack mag feeds 100%, double stacks can be intermittent on the AI type case configuration.

58g zmax accurate fireform load = 3525 fps = 317K RPM
70g Varmageddon accurate fireform load (mere 26.0g Benchmark) = 3050 fps = 274.5K RPM. Neither of these loads open up LC primer pockets at all, use 400 primers.

Full load good for 150+ fps more than that easy.

That 3500+ fps high RPM zmax is hell on prairie dogs, excellent splatilizationalizer. Sort of a 'molecular disrupter'.

Default Dedogs, range?

HYou ask? Having never been colony or skwirl shooting, I'm guessing 2-250 on the L'il guys and whatever affords itself on rock chucks and dogs. I'll be negotiating the learning curve, wind and ranging so don't really expect to be "going long" into the half mile and above on a regular, serious basis.

In general, looking for simplifying things and looking to trim the chamberings back, move a rifle or two, stop accumulating, start shooting and make at least one trip, hoping for two, W from Indiana annually. I don't smoke, drink or chew or go with girls that do (wife frowns on such shenanigans) so my fun budget should support those trips, once I stop stacking components higher and deeper.

Default GrocMax,

I'm not sure a .378 bf in 6mm will do much more than the PPC, BRs or XC will. Trying to trim things back a bit and am not into the ARs.

From my experience you would be in great shape with a .223 and a .20(probably VT-less heat). I don't shoot long range.

I do well with my .19 Badger and a .221fb. I have a safe full of rifles collecting dust that I could easily do without, and probably will someday.

I would say, from what you show/list and your need/want. Go with the 20 Vartarg, you will not regret it at all, and I would bet it becomes your favorite weapon. Bill K

Default VT...hmmm

Compared to the 20 Duster, what is the diff in forming aggravation, velocity, powder favorites and anything else that comes to mind?
