Default Remington is in Trouble

Remington is trying to file Bankruptcy. Thought you might be interested. I could see it coming.

Default Rem

Sorry to see.
I sure like some of their guns, 700s and 1100s for sure.
They like many didn’t plan on Hildabitch loosing, thus pulling the rug out from under the gun market.

Their trigger issues cost alot of $$. I bet they are trying to get out of that. Also AR sales really cut into bolt gun sales.

And they spent too much too quickly. Moved from NY to NC, then to Alabama and made a new handgun line. And, they had a lot of people that did not move and they lost a bunch of skilled employees. Classic mistakes.

I'd be surprised if someone doesn't buy them out...again, or possibly they go banko, dump a bunch of debt and keep trucking on making bad decisions, sad.
I wish em well though .

I knew it was coming also. But they deserve it. They had the best factory rifle out there for many years. Then they start making it cheaper, aka SPS turds. Then they completely miss the boat on the whole 710/715/770/783 line of rifles. Spent all the R&D money and those are what they come up with? Easily the worst line of rifle ever made. Trying to meet a "price point". Savage and others are blowing them away in all respects...price, looks, accuracy, functionality and offering the newest, hottest calibers to boot.

I tend too agree. I think if Remington would have and even would, just stick to making the Rem 700 rifle and the Rem 870 shotgun the best in the West, they would or could hold out and on.
It would hurt workers, but lower the overhead, staff and work on those two products and make them great again. Bill K

I think the XR 100 was one of the best guns they ever made

Remington was in BIG trouble for the last 8 years, even when sales were booming. Cerberus has been trying to sell them for the last 6 years, after a number of the private investors pulled out, and could not find a buyer.

Between lawsuits, recalls, poor QC, bad management decisions, poor purchases for way too much money ( Marlin, H & R, Cooper et al) poor onsite management and not competing for government contracts this company was headed nowhere but bankruptcy.

Unfortunately Ruger is in not much better shape and Smith and Wesson stock has dropped more than 60%.

Do you mean Dakota Arms?

In 2012, Remington won the U.S. Army contract to manufacture 24,000 M4A1 carbines at $673 per unit worth $16,163,252 total.
