long running project
I finally got this one done, it has been on the side burner for quite a while. I owe a big thanks (I think) to Chucker for posting pictures of the Wasatch action a few years ago (I now have 2. Younger brother to this is small caliber, so I am only bending things a little.

Sweeeeeet!
Keep up the good work.
A little at a time and it will soon be there. Don't you find that this kind of work has to be a labor of love. Each stroke of the file and rub with sand paper gets it closer with every bit of care you can muster. Always on your mind is the fact you may do something to screw it up. Little at a time.

Thanks
Thanks Chucker, check out the extended front base, I thought it really helped on mine. It is a labor of love and enjoyment, and I don't begrudge a custom stock maker a penny of what they make.

details
Ogre,
A good friend of mine helped me do the inletting on an uninletted Richard stock, and do the threading and chambering on a shilen barrel. I took advantage of the fact that I had a set of competition dies in .222 and he had a .250 neck minimum spec .223 reamer. I trimmed back .222 rem necks to .223 length and headspaced on that. It has a Jewell trigger in it, and so far seems to like 50 grain bullets better than 40, unfortunately. This also happens to be RB/LP unlike Chucker's. I shoot left handed and don't like the port in my face. Drew vs .222 rem: 221 fireball - Mine ( I call it a Harrier) - .223 Rem: Last edited by drewh; 09-06-2007 at 03:55 AM. |
