Default Coyotes with a .25-20 Win?

I aquired a Savage 23B - an OLD bolt gun w/25" barrel, in 25-20 Win. Shot first time last Friday with factory Winchester 85 gr soft point ammo and was SURPRISED at it's accuracy.
However the factory 85 gr stuff is pretty mild at about 1,500 fps. A quick search shows reloading with 60 and 75 grain bullets gives a lot more velocity.
I have:
Hornady 60 gr Flat nose;
Speer 75 gr Flat nose;
And Hornady 75 V Max bullets.
I have dies an am ready to go. As soon as our extended deer archery season is over next week (Jan 31st), I will be reducing the coyote Pac that is howling at every siren that goes by - yotes are 100 yards behind my house in a huge goat farm I have permission to hunt them.
Anyone shot a yote with this old time round? I will be videoing the calling/shots with a barrel mounted GoPro cam, or at least that's the plan.

Default 25-20 Win ?

My hunt/fish bud use's his on occasion, but he keeps his shots under 100 yrds. Not sure what factory or handload he use's, but they put them down. Not real fast, but I never seen one go further than 75 yrds, after a hit in the chest/lung area. Will be waiting for your photo's. Bill K

Default 25-20 Winchester Loading/Shooting Info

There is a wealth of information about loading/shooting the 25-20 on the Marlin owners forum here

Never taken a Yote with one, but I've killed a handful of coons with my marlin 1894cl. Most of the lighter bullets did not preform well in my rifle. I use iron receiver sights, and the lighter slugs just shot to high. Pushing the round real fast caused accuracy to decrease. I've had the best luck with the 86 gr Remington with either a max load of win296 or a middle of the road load of AA 1680. 296 was giving me around 1300 fps and 1680 was in the mid 1600's.
Sub hunert yards with good shot placement you should be fine. I rarely got a exit on coons except with very close shots. Should be fur friendly with yotes as well, with maybe an occasional pass thru. The Remington's do seem to be explosive.
