i long ago quit making the dies part of the "deal" when i sold a rifle. i have sold some that i had to purchase again later. i also pick up good used die sets at gun shows and flea markets for cartridges i may want someday or to use as forming dies for somethiung else.

Default Same thing

holds true for brass. I didn't own a 45 acp years ago and had no desire for one but... Our local police department practices at our range and never retrieves brass. I started picking up the new brass thinking I would find someone who needed it.

After a while I noticed that I had over 2,000 once fired 45 acp brass and I had to make a decision about what to do with it. You guessed it - I bought a 45 acp and now own three of them. In addition, my son has one and one of my grandsons has one. I can keep the progressive press pretty busy now recycling all of the 45 acp brass.

I have made a deliberate point of NOT picking up any of the 40 S&W brass that appears regularly after a police department practice session, however!

I will bet that I am not the only one who has bought a gun for this same reason!

thanks, good to know! I may wind up selling it anyway to fund my next .358 Winchester barrel, a project that's been too long in the waiting.
