Default 22 mag subsonic!?

I see where 45 grain subsonic 22 magnum ammo is available. I'm wondering why they didn't up the weight to at least 60 grains like SSS Aguila 22 LR ammo makers did. Answering my own question I assume it's so all standard rifling twist rates would stabilize it .
I am looking for the new Ruger predator 22 mag bolt rifle and it's twist is one in 14" so possibly even a heavier bullet in a subsonic load would work.
My goal is a quiet suppressed rimfire rig for suburban coyotes.
I have a Ruger Ranch rifle in 300Blackout waiting to be tested but no suppressor for it,.... yet.
As for the 22 Mag subsonic 45 gr stuff, I already have a suppressed 10/22 using CCI's 40 HP subsonic ammo,.. not much difference.

Is it a requirement to be rimfire for your area? I would think a 22 hornet down loaded would be easier to taylor a load for. They are pretty quiet to begin with. Especially with w296. Sound like a high velocity 22 LR.

Default well.....

I have a 22 suppressor that is not made for more than rimfire pressure. It USED TO BE that small game weapons had to be bows, muzzleloaders, shotguns with smaller than #4(?) shot, and rimfires. Recently Georgia allowed suppressors for game, and anything for coyotes year around.
My goal is quiet, for use around subdivisions (nearby). So best is suppressed muzzle blast and no sonic crack. Second best is no muzzle blast and minimal sonic crack.
I'm considering a 'can' for a Ruger Ranch bolt rifle in 300black, but just not sure I want to spend the $$ for another more expensive can. The 300 might be more prone to ricochet, too, with 200-220 grain subs.
Possibly the 22 mag sonic crack would be 'ok', but I won't know until I try it.

Default 22 mag subsonic ammo.....

Austrailia, but seems someone said it's coming here to USA as well, if not already here.
MY question is, why just a 45 grain bullet? Seems at least a 50, 55, 60 or even heavier might work with extra energy.
The new Ruger American rifle with threaded muzzle in 22 Magnum has a 1:14" twist barrel but maybe most older rifles are 1:16"??
The new Ruger:

Ricochet should be considered when going subsonic.

Besides that, a 45gr .224 bullet at 1045fps (subsonic) yields 109 fpe. Taking coyotes with such a rig would be very up close, 25yds max with strict head shots! Also have to consider if the factory loaded bullet will even open up at that speed?

Just some thoughts.

60 grain 22 mag subsonic would likely need a 1:9 twist to stabilize the bullet. I know Liberty Suppressors warns about the use of the Aguila 60 grain 22 LR in their suppressors

You pretty much nailed it. A subsonic 22 Mag is just a 22 RF. Unless you can find some much heavier bullets there is NO advantage. To me the 22 Hornet with 50-60 grain bullets loaded with T Boss would be a far better idea and still light for yotes. Depending on size/weight of the target, subsonic 300 Blackout with 150+ grain bullets would make even more sense on yotes.

You want big holes for bleed out if you are shooting low velocity rounds. A subsonic supressed 375 H$H or a 45-70 would be perfect. At 100 yards and under a cross bow might make the best choice.

I can see no use for Subsonic 22 Mag unless that was the only gun I owned.

been trying a sub load for my 17 A/H using trailboss with the recommended min load and 20 gr V/Max cant use 25 or 30gr as my gun is 10twist i was getting 1.700ft/sec with good accuracy without moving my zero from my normal 3.650ft/sec load i held over a rabbit at about 120yds and shot over it second shot stoned it his mate came out of the cover to see why he was lying down and stoned him as well i was using a mod and it was very quiet round before i was able to fine tune the round i had a foot infection that cost me all 5 toes (myxi the rabbits revenge ) and am still confined to the house for over 10 months now and still cant put any weight on my foot
Hopefully this year i will recover enough to start shooting again and maybe a sub load for mr ackleys finest
