Default 17-222 Load Data

Guys,

I need some load data for the 17-222. Please indulge my request...I have put in the time. I promise I am not being lazy and have done multiple searches and viewed previous posts/threads as I can find them.

Before anyone gets irritate and suggests I do a "search" or look under the Load Data section I have the following "Diplomatic" comments:
1) I attempted a Search using "17-222" of entire Saubier forum results in "Sorry - no matches..." ??? How/Why - I don't know why this doesn't work since I have written some of them, recently.
2) I have viewed all 78 pages of threads under the Load Data section.
3) I have now viewed 350 pages of the 1,017 pages of threads under the "Small Caliber Discussion" section. Only 676 more pages representing approximately +17,000 threads. I skimming titles for key terms.
4) I have reviewed everything that search shows on Accurate Shooter forum.
5) I have Googled It and reviewed other sources of info on the web.
6) Reviewed wildcat books including the venerable "Sensational Seventeens".

Please Help save my Vision. A last Big GunHo Push for a splendid 17-222 cartridge!!!!

Thank You in advance.

I am interested in load recipes for both 20gr and 25gr bullets. Almost all of the load data that I have found is based on the 25gr bullet. I have found more load date on 30gr bullets then the 20gr bullets, which seems backwards. I would like to find some starting loads for the 20gr Vmax. Powders are being used in 17 cals. that aren't listed on Powder Manufacturer's sites.

The common advise is compare load data for 17 Fireball and 17 Remington, and start at max of 17FB and work up slowly.
The other common advise is to start with 17 Remington load and reduce powder charge by 2 gr.

These are some of the load data that I found in my searches:

20gr Bullets
H335 20.5gr
Varget 22.0gr
8208XBR 21.0gr

25gr Bullets
H335 20.0gr - 21.0gr
TAC 21.0gr - 23.0gr
H4198 15.5gr (mild)
H4895 19.5gr - 20.5gr
N133 18.5gr - 19.2gr
8208XBR [?????]
CFE223 [?????]

For 17 Remington/25 grain bullets:

19+ grains of IMR4198........... Start at 18 grains and work up.

EDIT: Whoops.....!!! I meant to say reduce accordingly for 17-222 case. It's what I (and you) get for trying to post on the run with a cell phone..... My bad.

I just came across this thread page 294. These are Gary's loads for 17-222

As always, start low and work up slowly watching for pressure signs. A chronograph is very useful for load development with wildcats: when you start seeing only small velocity increases with each powder increase you are nearing maximum loads.

Can't remember where I got this load info but I've been using 22.2 gr VV140 with 25gr VMax. Been using this load since having it built. Great round if you like to watch furry critters fly about.

Default Hi mate

PM me I have a page out of an Australian Reloading Manual and it has a few powders that would be available in the US. Published 2005 if that would help.
