It's funny you mention that one. It is the only one I have not shot, yet. I hope to correct that sometime this month.

I have been going through similar events. 22BR won out over the 22-250. 17 Fireball won out over the 17HH.
I in turn upgraded some glass and bought a 223 I had to have. Did some stock swapping also. Sold my CZ 17 Remington and that bought two Howa minis. Sold the CZ 204 that bought another Howa mini and some glass. I picked up a Savage 204 barrel and spun it on a spare 223 rig, it shot better than the CZ. I sold my F/TR 308, bought a Bighorn action and am waiting on a 20BR barrel. I am upgrading along with putting together some other projects. Good thing is zero has came out of the bank. As you mention, it is a sellers market for some select rigs. I was hung up on classic stuff for a long time. I have come around to the point now that I build or buy what I want and don’t let others influence me. In my eyes I have little overlap, for instance 17WSM, 17FB and 17 Remington. The 17WSM did a large percentage of what the 17HH did, the 17FB sees only 20 grain bullets and have loads that shoot at Hornet speeds with easier and better accuracy, along with it being able to send the 20’s at Mach speed if so desired. The 17 Remington sees 25’s and 30’s and sends them at high speed without going crazy on pressure. Flip a rifle and build or buy something YOU want and don’t have. Nuff said |

The only problem I see is you don’t have 2 of each… and you don’t have a .222. You need to be buying not selling…

So, I got a 22 Hornet with a magazine, but I now can't shoot the 40 grain plastic tipped bullets because they have to be seated out too far and won't fit in the magazine. If I want to use those bullets I will essentially have another single shot. If I stay with the typical hornet bullets I will greatly limit my range with the rifle. My 17 Hornet shoots nearly as good and I am shooting factory ammo. It shoots flatter and recoils less. Pointy bullets fit in the magazine with no issues. My 221 Fireball will also handle the pointy bullets in the magazine without problem and could be downloaded to 22 Hornet velocity if I wanted to do so. I would bet it would do so with better accuracy too. So why do I want the Hornet to work? I can put a handful of cartridges in my pocket and it feels like I am carrying rimfire. It gives a nice punch for such as small case. There is also a bit of nostalgia to it that I can't ignore. I keep saying I will never do cast and lead, but it would be ideal for it. With the seller's market my brain keeps telling me to dump the 22 Hornets and not look back. Then my heart speaks up and tells me I will regret it and won't be able to do x, y, or z and it will cost more to get back into it later. I feel like a complete mess and I feel bad for criticizing my wife for not being able to make up her mind |

If I saw a Sako A1/L461 in 222 or 22 PPC I would be very weak to say no
